We watched this video in class and it made me realize that i can always get better at listening and to try to rid myself of barriers when engaging in conversation with others, because that will be vital in my field of work. I enjoyed the video, it gave me ideas on how to improve my hearing abilities.

Class 1-3

January 11th - Class 1 - Missed it due to being in Disney world on my honeymoon.

January 18th - Class 2 - Missed because i got sick at the end of my trip and was still to sick to attend classes this week.

January 25th  - Class 3 - Body Language

"Don't implant information that could give somebody a way out of a situation."
Key points to be aware of with Body language

Facial cues :
Eyes - making eye contact is very significant (connect or avoid)
     Jaw - clenched shows tension
     Mouth - smile vs sneer

Hands:
    Fingers - pointing, challenging
    Fist - clenched shows aggression

We also learned about different proximities to make people feel uncomfortable in an interview.
     Intimate : 0-18"
     Personal : 18"- 4ft
     Social : 4- 12ft
     Public : 12- 20ft

Haptics : physical touch
Para-language : using hand gestures to communicate emotion
Oculesics : study of eye movement
Chronemics : study of role of timing when speaking
Kinescis : how body movements and gestures commune information
Object communication : using an object to explain what something is
Interview stance should be at a 45 degree angle

The last important part we learned in this class was about content and relationship messages. The content message is what legally must be said and the relationship message is how it is said.
As my first class, i quite enjoyed it. My teacher Brian keeps us very engaged and shares his career stories which always brings some laughs and lessons to be learned.
